Missile Pod Lock
The missile pod takes the place of the Rocket launcher lock in Halo 2. It even improves it in several ways in that it doesn't have to stay exactly on the vehicle in question during the tracking phase of the launch. And the cool part about it is that it tracks the vehicle in question even if the enemy combative jumps out of the vehicle.
The bad part of it is that it is basically useless against personnel. It has no splash radius what so ever.
The big thing to make sure you do if you are arming yourself with it is give yourself a nice clearance with the pod so that you can make sure that you get a good track and hit with it. Also be careful of not locking on two quickly to give them time to abandon the vehicle and/or get to cover before you can line your shot up.
If the vehicle is rampaging your team though, a nice scare can be just what you need as well. Get the lock on the other vehicle, but don't fire. You only want to fire when you know you have a good shot. but they will usually withdraw or at least back down enough that your team can stage a come back or become less depressed by the presence of the vechicle.
If you are in a vechicle that has been locked the best thing to do is duck around some cover. if the vechicle doesn't have an readily available cover then the next best option is to jump out.
If you are in a Banshee you have one of two options when locked and presumably fired upon. Duck behind some rocks or rocky out cropping, or get the missiles lined up straight behind you and boost your way out of range of them. In a dead out run you can out run them no problem what so ever.
